Customer Review: SECRET INSIGHTS OF SUCCESSFUL LOSERS!
Taken from the TV show The Biggest Loser, where people lose weight and change their lives, this book gives you the “success secrets” the show’s participants used to transform their bodies. This book reveals the contestant’s insights and how they personally overcame their cravings, resistance to exercise, and desire to revert back to old lifestyle habits. They also describe how they kept going during plateaus and into maintenance. Along with diet and exercise tips and daily lifestyle habits, the book has the contestant’s testimonials and photos. The contestants are generous with their stories, victories, and advice in their testimonials and quotes that are scattered throughout the book. You get the feeling they want to help others through struggles and onward to weight-loss victory. The contents: Introduction: The biggest Loser Secrets and Suggestions…Revealed! Chapter 1: The Inspiration to Make a Change: Getting Started Chapter 2: Eating Healthfully: Psychological Tips and Tricks Chapter 3: Burning Calories: Motivation to Get Moving and Keep Moving Chapter 4: Managing Self-Esteem and Body Image Issues: Tips for Staying Positive and Strong Chapter 5: Staying in the Game: Inspiration to Help You Reach Your Goals Chapter 6: Hitting Plateaus: How to Break Through Fitness Barriers Chapter 7: Support or Sabotage? The Powerful Influence of Family and Friends Chapter 8: The Post-Loser Lifestyle: Living Fit References, Resources, Acknowledgements, Index The book instructs you to keep a daily journal of what you eat as well as what exercise you do. The diet is based on calorie control and has 3 main meals and 2 snacks. A typical day’s menu is: one egg with turkey bacon for breakfast; cherries, cottage cheese, and almonds for morning snack; a spinach salad with skinless chicken breast and half an apple for lunch; Greek-style plain, fat free yogurt with blueberries for a snack; and grilled salmon with steamed quinoa and broccoli and a peach for dinner. If you want recipes, you need to get the “Biggest Loser Cookbook”. The Biggest Loser plan itself is described in “The Biggest Loser: The Weight Loss Program to Transform Your Body, Health, and Life–Adapted from NBC’s Hit Show”. This book focuses more on motivation and techniques rather than nuts and bolts diet and exercise. We all know that the key to weigh loss success is motivation and managing the mind. This book does a great job of reminding us of this truth. The book mentions a “moment” and “triggering event” that finally pushes people over the edge and awakens their desire to lose weight even if it means making substantial changes in their life and giving up their comfortable but bad habits. The book affirms that the key to weigh loss is managing our mind and behavior, not just eating and exercise. The testimonials in the book are heartfelt and inspiring. This is a great book for motivation! Debra Lawrence, author of THE 3:00 PM SECRET: Live Slim and Strong, Live Your Dreams
Customer Review: Simple baby steps to success
The Biggest Loser Success Secrets is great because it has testimonials, photos, and baby steps to follow to inspire a person to success. You can easily open the book, look at a before and after photo, and be fired up again to stick to your diet and exercise. Huge successes all happened with daily faithful habits that snowballed into major changes. This isn’t a book you have to read cover to cover, just pick it up and LOOK at it. Most anyone should be able to look at the photos, quick tips, habits to cultivate, and say, “if they can do it, I can do it.” I think one of the biggest appeals is that these successes are everyday people like you, me, us, and our families and friends, NOT superstars or supermodels. The book is good reference to keep with you for bedtime or early morning inspiration. Keep one in the lunchroom at work too–great way to keep all the dieters motivated. This one’s a keeper!

The Cardio-Free Diet

May 20th, 2008

The Cardio-Free Diet
Are you constantly pounding away on the treadmill but never losing a pound? Does every step on the StairMaster become more and more painful? Are you tired of endless workouts that only make you want to eat more?

Cardiovascular workouts do burn a few calories, but far fewer than you think. And the more cardio you do, the hungrier you feel. Not only does cardio fail to help you lose weight, but it kills — it kills your time, your energy, your joints, and your motivation. You burn a few measly calories but then eat twice as many afterward. The result? Weight gain — and lots of it.

The Cardio-Free Diet is a revolutionary four-phase program that emphasizes strength training to boost your metabolism; build lean, sexy muscles; and achieve all the same heart-healthy benefits of cardio. With just twenty minutes a day, three days a week, you can look and feel noticeably leaner, stronger, and younger than ever before.

Weight loss expert Jim Karas has shaped the bodies of Diane Sawyer, Paula Zahn, Hugh Jackman, and even Oprah’s best pal, Gayle King. With easy-to-follow instructions, Jim shows you how to exercise the right way in order to see incredible results. You won’t just lose weight — you’ll sculpt a whole new physique.

Watch the pounds disappear as you prepare delicious dishes such as apple balsamic chicken, Dijon turkey, feta vegetable omelets, and grilled tomato tuna. You can even enjoy a daily glass of wine! With detailed shopping lists, a variety of daily menus, and helpful tips on how to maintain your diet when eating out or ordering in, you’ll never have to worry about what to eat.

The Cardio-Free Diet offers maximum results in minimal time — so break free from the mindless, ineffective cycle of cardio and get the body you’ve always wanted!

Customer Review: THE SCOOP!

THEORY: Former runner and aerobics instructor, Jim Karas, was “adamant that cardio was the key to weight loss,” but later discovered he was wrong. His latest Cardio-Free Diet book appeals to those tired of treadmills, StairMasters, and the jogging trail without the desired results. He says in order to get the body you’ve always wanted you need strength training. He says cardiovascular workouts only burn a few calories and make you hungrier - not to mention the wear and tear on your joints. The Cardio-Free Diets emphasizes strength training, which boosts metabolism, builds muscles, and provides heart-healthy benefits. The workout is 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week, and promises a leaner, stronger, sculpted body. The basis for his weight loss is the age-old but often forgotten:

Weight = Calories eaten - Calories expended by resting Metabolism and Activity.

According to the book, in order to lose weight, you need to take in fewer calories than your body requires for metabolism and daily activity. Karas says to lose weight you need to create a caloric deficit by eating less, increase your activity, and elevate your basal metabolic rate. Furthermore, he says that building and maintaining muscle can speed up metabolism because muscle burns ten to twelve times the calories per pound each day that fat does. Therefore, by building muscle you burn more calories even at rest. This is not new news to many of us; nevertheless, it is true.

THE DIET is a calorie-counting, portion-control, 1,200 calorie per day plan (for women) that eventually goes to 1,500 calories per day. The diet is not vegetarian, includes fish, chicken, salad, fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc., and is basically low-glycemic. The meal plan has 28-day menus which provide dishes such as apple balsamic chicken, Dijon turkey, feta vegetable omelets, and grilled tomato tuna. A glass of wine a day is also allowed. Karas provides detailed shopping lists and tips on eating out. You will need to get your own calorie counter, as the book stresses the importance of portion control. He also advocates a daily weigh-in and keeping a food journal. The diet is somewhat time-consuming with needed preparation.

EXERCISE: Karas recommends completely giving up cardio and doing 20 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week, using resistance bands and/or free weights. Nevertheless, the strength training is done at a high intensity thereby providing some cardio. The workout is pretty basic (squat’s, flye’s) and targeted toward someone who understands the jargon but is not very advanced. An advanced weight lifter undoubtedly knows what to do already, but may pick up some additional ideas. You do not need a gym. While the bands may be a great tool for packing in a suitcase when you travel, I personally prefer weights as they seem much less awkward. So don’t give up on weight training if you find bands a little clumsy.

I agree that if you want to see muscles and change the shape of your body, weight training will do it. In addition, people who believe they can control their weight through exercise alone, whether it’s running 20 miles a day or spending 15 hours lifting weights, will still need to control what they eat. You cannot burn enough calories exercising in a whole day as you can inadvertently eat in 10 or 20 minutes. If you are able to stick to the diet and exercise program as it is laid out, you will lose weight. If you want to keep it off forever, you need to do this program or some other lifestyle-changing program that works for you for life. Debra Lawrence, author of THE 3:00 PM SECRET: Live Slim and Strong, Live Your Dreams

Customer Review: Not a book for beginners
If you are an exercise novice as I am, this book is not for you. Karas’ concept sounds good and he certainly has passion for the subject, having trained his entire life. Maybe his instructions are clear to those with a similar background, but I needed much more info:

1) I know the general location of my trapezoids and deltoids but I’d need to check an anatomy chart for their exact location to focus on them in the exercises.

2) I have no idea what a fly, quarter squat, or torso curl are - let alone how to do them with proper form, which Karas emphasizes but doesn’t describe.

3) The exercise equipment is not explained but is mandatory for the program — Karas recommends buying specific colors of Xertubes and Lex Loops. I never heard of these, and he gave no info on where to buy them. I found a site that sells them but the mysterious colors aren’t explained there either. The site’s “Jim Karas packages” didn’t include the colors recommended on page 44.

4) As I was reading, I kept thinking “Where is this guy’s editor?” Someone needs to explain the terms and clarify the instructions. The step-by-step exercise instructions shown with photographs are sometimes different from the text descriptions. Only 2 photographs illustrate each exercise - not enough to show the complex movements, especially as the text stresses doing them with correct form! On the diet side, calories must be counted but no calorie chart was included and there weren’t any vegetarian alternatives.

So much basic info was omitted that I wonder what else Karas assumes I know. I hesitate to perform these exercises without professional supervision checking my form to prevent injury. Maybe a DVD/book combo would be better for beginners.

NuGo Organic Nutrition Bar, Dark Double Chocolate, 1.76-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)
List Price: $27.60
Amazon Price: $20.29
Customer Review: Recipe has changed for the worse
These bars used to be great–the protein-to-sugar ratio used to be more protein (10g) than sugar (8g) (the nutrition information posted by Amazon is no longer accurate). But now, the bars have *15* grams of sugar to 10 grams of protein. Yuck–much too sweet! If I want sugar I’ll get a Hershey bar. What I wanted was a quick protein snack that didn’t rot my teeth.
Customer Review: Great in stores - not so from Amazon
These bars, and their Raspberry flavored counterpart, are awesome - the chocolate is great and they are not too chewy, not too crunchy. Knowing that they are organic and have some nutritional value makes you feel ok about eating a snack. The bars themselves are certainly 5 stars. The only problem - the past two times I’ve ordered (both varieties) from Amazon, the bars where less than fresh. (Actually I reported the first delivery and they replaced it for free, but the second was no better). The date on the packages were well within the expired date, but the bars were dry and the dark chcoloate had a white fade to it and did not taste as “dark”. Going to give one more try to ordering online as it is considerably cheaper, but then may have to turn back to paying the higher cost from the retail stores — but they’re worth it!

Customer Review: Huge Hit!
Our two year old son received this set (as well as the breakfast and dinner sets) for Christmas. Talk about a HUGE hit! He plays with it daily! The food accurately mimics real food in looks and size and is well worth the extra money that other plastic food sets cost. We highly recommend this play food and look forward to adding other sets of this food to his collection!
Customer Review: Church Nursery Tested- A Hit!
We gave this to our church nursery with the Healthy Breakfast set. The 18 mos-3 yo kids just love it. It gets played with every week. It has held up fabulously. I bought the huge 90 pc set for my 3yo DD. She just loves playing with all the food. I was back and forth trying to decide between this food and Haba wooden food. I am glad I chose this. It’s wonderful, durable and realistic. My daughter prefers it over the Melissa and Doug wooden food she has.

Dr. Andrew Weil’s Guide to Eating Well
“One of holistic medicine’s most authoritative voices” — Publishers Weekly

Good carbs, bad carbs? Low fat, no fat? Is protein the solution or the problem? After so much conflicting diet advice, one of America’s best-known and most respected doctors offers a sensible approach that emphasizes enjoyment over deprivation and long-term health benefits over short-term weight loss. Dr. Weil assures us there is no confusion among nutritional experts about the optimal diet for health and longevity. And it’s the very same diet that will naturally keep you at a healthy weight. Understanding inflammation to be the root cause of many chronic illnesses, he provides science-based recommendations to help combat specific health concerns, all as part of what he calls the Anti-Inflammatory Diet. He also addresses the subject of dietary supplements, what’s downright dangerous and what can help.

Inside the DVD, you’ll find a printed pocket guide that encapsulates much of Dr. Weil’s advice, including energy-boosting eating tips and a shopping cart guide to the healthiest foods.

DVD FEATURES INCLUDE bonus footage not seen on the PBS broadcast, the Eating Well Pocket Guide, and a bio of Dr. Weil.

Andrew Weil M.D., is a world-renowned leader and pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Dr. Weil combines a Harvard education with a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine to provide a unique approach to health care that encompasses body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Weil is the founder and director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. His national bestselling books include Spontaneous Healing, The Healthy Kitchen, and Healthy Aging.
List Price: $14.99
Amazon Price: $12.99
Used Price: $9.22
Customer Review: Good but extremely basic
Dr. Weil has a very sensible and holistic approach to eating which is well explained in this program. I like his emphasis on debunking fad diets and on making eating pleasurable and socially integrative. He covers all the basic concepts related to healthy eating competently and clearly. I personally was hoping for something more advanced, since the information in this video is really oriented to those who know very little about nutrition. If you have been keeping up with the literature, there will be little new information here. Actually, Dr. Weil’s DVD on healthy aging contains some interesting information on healthful properties of foods and spices in the Okinawan diet which are not contained here and which were new to me. But, even if you know all this, it never hurts to reinforce it and this video is a succinct and motivational way to do so.

Customer Review: Well-done, inspiring
I rented this through Netflix, so had no access to any additional materials that might have been included with it (eye chart, for example). The only suggestion for improvement I would make is: have a separate workout on the DVD. While Mr. Schneider does go into how long to do each individual exercise when teaching, it would be nice to have a complete, real-time run through on the DVD. The exercises/warm-up he has you go through before you do any of the eye exercises could also be used as a gentle, yet energizing warm up for other physical exercise–a welcome and unexpected bonus.

Check out our product demo’s here: www.eatsmartproducts.com/demo.php
Price: $89.95
Customer Review: Good solid scale….no major flaws
Have had the Eatsmart for about a month now and have been very impressed. Weighs most of the food i consume daily and gives accurate nutrient information. I really like that I can get a full size plate onto the scale and still read the display, something I have had a hard time with other scales I have owned. Overall very highly recommended.
Customer Review: Much better than the Salter 1450
So I had initially bought the Salter 1450 on the recommendation of a friend on an internet message board. While the scale worked fine, the database of foods was impractical (lots of packaged/junk foods) for somebody trying to maintain health with diabetes. Additionally, the search functionality (scrolling through) took more time than it was worth and just created headaches for me. My local diabetes center recommended the EatSmart to me, and so far i have been thoroughly impressed. Seems to be a much more “professional” approach to this scale, with a database tailored specifically to whole foods and an easy to use interface. Best of all, the nutrition facts calculator is an additional feature that allows me to monitor net carbs with any packaged foods i happen to eat (this can be done with any food, so I make my own healthy 100 calorie snacks!) It also sits nicely on my kitchen counter and looks aesthetically pleasing, unlike the Salter that looked like a laptop and I was ashamed to have around. EatSmart was a little cheaper too so i saved a few bucks. Highly recommended

Customer Review: My daughter loves it
I was little concerned about what we might get, since we bought this boom box without first seeing it in a store. We are happily surprised, and our 3 year old daughter simply loves it. Pros: 1. It’s easy to use: our daughter can easily load CDs, play/change tracks; the buttons are large and easy to press 2. It seems pretty durable, even if it’s mostly plastic 3. Sound quality is good for the price. Cons: 1. Some of the controls (volume, on/off) seem a bit oddly placed Other thoughts: –It has a cassette player?? Who still has cassettes? I think it’s a winner for the price, especially given the amount of cheapo items flooding the market these days. I’d recommend this to a friend.
Customer Review: Cute radio for kids
This pink Hello kitty radio is cute for kids. It also works great. The sound seems good and it has cd, radio and cassette for any of their listening materials to work on. My 6 year old daughter keeps it in her room and loves to listen to it and it is also very portable and compact.

500 Tablets Ibuprofen 200 mg - Compare to Active Ingredient in Advil
Customer Review: no next time
This used to be a great deal when I was recieving these from Wonderlabs.I would recieve 600 ibuprophen with some other offering like muscle relaxers or multi vitamins. The deal i’m getting now has a higher price for 500 pills.I won’t do this again.
Customer Review: Ibuprofen in Generic Form is a Best Buy
Ibuprofen is a good over the counter analgesic (pain reliever) that works on mild to moderate pain. Ibuprofen is the generic drug name, and is the active ingredient in Advil and Motrin (which cost much more). It comes in 200 milligam tablets/capsules. For most mild aches, it can be quite effective. Not only does Ibuprofen relieve pain, but it also is a real good anti-inflammatory medication (it lessens swelling). Thus it is also good for arthritis pain, any joint or muscle sprains or strains, and terrific for toothache pain too. If two tablets are taken, it is equivalent to the previously by prescription only product, “Motrin”. Two tablets, or 400 mg of Ibuprofen is for mild to moderate pain. Three tablets, 600 mg, is for moderate to moderately severe pain. All three doses, 200, 400, and 600 mg can be taken every 4 hours as needed for pain. Four tablets is the highest prescribed dose (800 mg), and should only be taken once every 6 hours. Reserve the four tablet dosaging for your really severe pain. The 800mg dose is equivalent to Tylenol #3 (anetaminophen with codiene), another good pain reliever. (Anything more than 200 mg a dose requires a doctor’s prescription.) Ibuprofen can cause stomach upset and mild stomach bleeding, therefore, always take it with a large cup of water and to minimize gastric upset, eat something with it, like some yogurt, some applesauce, a piece of toast, etc. The extra food will help protect your gut. LIke any medication, Ibuprofen should not be taken day after day for an extended period of time without a doctor’s supervision. Ibuprofen in higher doses or low continuous doses can damage your liver and kidneys. If you are planning to use Ibuprofen for only a few days, you should be able to tolerate 2-3 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed (provided you are a generally healthy adult, are not allergic to Ibuprofen, have no existing liver or kidney disease, and have no stomach ulcers or chronic gut condition like Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Chron’s Disease. How you purchase Ibuprofen is up to you, but there are some real good generic Ibuprofen products that are less than half the cost of the “name brand” products (Advil, Motrin). Both the generic and the name brand are equal in terms of strength and effectiveness. The only thing different about the name brand is fancier packaging and perhaps easier to swallow dose forms. I buy my Ibuprofen in the generic form; not only do I get it cheaper, I get more tablets too. Jim “Konedog” Koenig

Customer Review: Where to buy KLEAN KANTEENS, at the BEST PRICES
I love the klean kanteen water bottles, I bought mine at www.kleankanteenshop.com I bought some of the 12oz with sippy tops and a 27 and 40oz kanteen. Please visit […] if interested in any klean kanteen item, The store is owned by a combat veteran and I would recommend his shop to anybody. The Advent sippy tops are great for my little one, he is about a year old and handles it very well. I like to use the 27oz klean kanteen at work, I seem to be drinking allot of water now days and now that I have the stainless steel kleen kanteen the water does not taste weird.

Nine Stars DZT-42-1 11 Gallon Stainless Steel Infrared Trashcan

May 16th, 2008

Nine Stars DZT-42-1 11 Gallon Stainless Steel Infrared Trashcan
Features:The Touchless Trashcan uses patented invisible harmless infrared technology. Place hand or debris about 6 inches away from the infrared sensor near the lid. It will open instantly when you approach and will close automatically in 3-second after debris has been released and hand moves away. Lid will remain open if debris or hand is within 6 inches range of the infrared sensor. There are 2 buttons on the front to open and close the lid manually and an on/off switch on the back of the trashcan

Customer Review: What Battery Holder
Wow, at least your can came with a battery holder. Mine didn’t. Needless to say, the touchless can seldom worked as the batteries kept getting dislodged. What a disappointment.

Customer Review: Defective battery holder door
I do like this trash can, EXCEPT for the poorly fitted door to the battery holder. If I move the trash can, or if someone accidentally bumps it, the door becomes dislodged, and the batteries shift, losing their contact points. As a result, the can is no longer a “touchless” one. There is no damage to the door–it’s just a defect in the engineering and production. There’s no way to exchange it, as the postage to return it would cost too much. I’ve resorted to taping not only the door, but also the batteries. It is an annoying workaround. For this reason, I cannot recommend paying the price for this can unless you buy it locally and return it if yours, too, is defective.

Customer Review: Once you go Sonicare you never go back.
What a great toothbrush. I have one and my wife has one. She was a hard sell but once she used it for a week she was SOLD! Now she even takes it with her on business trips rather than a normal toothbrush. I have had mine for over 2 years and it still work great. The battery doesn’t last the 2 weeks it used to but it still only needs to be charged once a week or so. Not bad at all. It is worth the money so pull the trigger.
Customer Review: Good, but mold a definite problem
I have owned my Elite model for about 6 months now. Previous to that, I was the owner of the “original” Sonicare toothbrush for about 7 years, which used the standard heads rather than the angled “elite” brush heads. I replaced it only because the non-user-replaceable battery finally gave up the ghost. In general, all the sonicare models do an outstanding job of keeping teeth cleaned, if used properly. I like the sonic action better than rotary or slower-speed mechanical motion. The sonicare keeps my teeth feeling polished. The timer also forces me to brush for a full 2 minutes - 30 seconds for each quadrant of my mouth. As such, I am not going to spend a lot of time commenting on the effectiveness of the sonicare approach in general (which I think is excellent) or in comparing it to other brands. Instead, I’m going to focus here strictly on comparing the new Elite model to the previous model which used so-called “standard” sonicare brush heads rather than “elite” brush heads. First, let’s talk about the relatively few things I like about the new model: * battery indicator - shows when charging (which old one had) and shows how much charge remains (which old one did not have) * styling - mine is blue/white and looks attractive with its rubberized side grips. However, I have a sneaking suspicion the rubber is going to fade and look old more quickly than my older model which was entirely white plastic except for a single small on/off button. * charger - the new charger has open sides, unlike the old model which was a sealed “well” that would trap water and give rise to gunk build up. The new design seems like it will stay cleaner and inhibit model or mildew…at least on the charger base itself * angled brush head - the angle of the “elite” design makes it easier to clean behind your teeth and is used even in most non-electric toothbrushes today. Unfortuately, that is about it in terms of improvements. The big black mark (and I do mean black literally) is that there is a significant problem with mold build-up on this design. * BLACK MOLD - On my old model, I never had a mold problem - ever. Also, the mold problem is not a factor of my environment. I live in Nevada. Humidity is the least of our worries and my house runs conistently drier than normal, particularly in the winter when it is cold and there is very little moisture in the air and the forced-air furnace is running. Many people have to use humidifiers (I don’t use one) to keep the house comfortable. On my old model, I never removed the brush heads except to change them and perhaps once a month to clean the built-up toothpaste that accumulated around the collar that secured the head to the handle. I can honestly say that in 6+ years, there was never a hint of a mold problem. On the new model, however, I began to see the appearance of black mold within 2-4 weeks of purchase. A sanitizer won’t help, either, because the location where the mold is growing is not likely to be exposed to the UV light in the charger. It focuses on the brush stem and bristles, while the mold is in a sort of “cavern” that the light won’t reach. In my opinion, the new model is a poor design and the company is going to have a significant problem until they redesign the brush heads and eliminate this rubber seal entirely. * Handle - my old handle was constructed entirely of plastic, with no rubberized sides. Admittedly, the new sides make it easier to grip. However, I don’t ever recall dropping my old handle because it was overly slippery and my old handle sayed nice and clean because it was entirely of smooth plastic. After 6+ years the white had discolored to an unattractive dull yellow, but it had the important advantage of being able to keep clean. Any white plastic is bound to discolor over time. The new design looks attractive now, with its accenting blue rubber sides; however, that rubber is very likely going to fade and discolor relatively quickly, unlike the previous model which took a very long time before it started to look shabby. Also, toothpaste sticks to the rubber more readily than to the smooth plastic of the old model, making it slightly more difficult to keep clean. Not a big deal, but worth noting. * Handle seal - the handle’s cover has a very small gap around the circumference, right below the threads where the brush head attaches. This is an obvious location for moisture ingression, since when you stand the toothbrush upright, water will drip down to the little “ledge” formed in this location and pool there. The gap isn’t large, but is visible to the naked eye. If I can see it, so can water molecules. In time, I suspect this will spell a problem for the internals. All in all, the new model is more attractive, has a battery indicator, and the angled brush head is slightly easier to use. However, I’m afraid these modest improvements do not eclipse the serious problem noted above; namely, mold growth. I never used to have to take my brush head off, except when toothpaste built up and actually started to inhibit the sonic vibration of the brush head. Now, I’ve taken to removing the brush head after every use to allow everything to air dry properly. It’s a bigger hassle and I’m not confident it will alleviate the mold growth. After all, I think most people are like me and want to focus on maintaining their TEETH - not their toothbrush. And, I’m not real keen about having black mold 3 inches from my mouth, even if it is trapped inside the “guts” of the brush head and not on the brushes/stem itself.

Customer Review: Good quality
Nice quality seat, easy to put together… I’m not real mechanically inclined and it only took me about 10 minutes. 5 bolts and it comes with everything but a phillips screwdriver. Sam’s Club has them for $29 though… better to pick one up there.

Shop’NCook is two applications in one, a recipe organizer and a shopping list manager working seamlessly together to facilitate your grocery shopping and cooking. Recipes are easily added by typing them in, pasting them from the clipboard, or importing directly from the internet: no formatting is necessary. The smart wizard interprets the recipes, links them to the database of grocery items or to other recipes and yields an accurate nutritional analysis without user’s intervention. You organize your recipes by categories and in cookbooks that you can share with anyone with the free Shop’NCook Reader software. A powerful scaling tool lets you scale the ingredients and the text of your recipes, make ingredient substitutions and unit conversions. You add the ingredients of the recipes to the shopping list with a click. The quantities are scaled and converted automatically to your preferred shopping units. Contrary to most cooking software, grocery lists can also be created by directly selecting items of the database, adding from sublists or just typing in new items. Other features: fully customizable database of more than 2000 grocery items with nutritional data for more than 40 nutrients; recipe import in several popular formats (scx, mm, mxp, mx2 and plain text); nutrition scripts to control the display of nutritional information and compute custom nutritional formulas; e-mail tool to send recipes and shopping lists; direct access to an online recipe database where Shop’NCook users share their recipes. The CD contains the installers for Windows and Mac OS X platforms. The installers include three cookbooks totaling about 1000 recipes.

Customer Review: The Essential Exercise Video
A must-own exercise video, in this Leslie takes you on a 25 minute intense aerobics workout. Using only basic exercise moves (kicking, side-stepping, kick backs and knee lifts, mostly), Sansone gets you out of your seat with fast-paced music, inspirational words for dieters and overly enthusiastic comments on how well you’re doing. In all fairness, nothing has helped me more than this video. I’ve been using this (varied with a twenty minute audio cassette also by Leslie- great for traveling) three times a week for two years. I lost the ten pounds I wanted to and haven’t gained an ounce back since, WITH NO DIET CHANGES! The short duration of the tape is also encouraging, unlike a Richard Simmons (or most other similar workout tapes), you’re not dancing your buns off for upwards of an hour, it’s just 25 minutes! A must-own way for getting a healthy, non-obsessive workout without leaving your living room.
Customer Review: The best yet for couch potatos
I would highly recommend this tape to anyone that is just starting to exercise or has never exercised. It is so easy to do and follow. I have had knee surgery, and cannot do to much twisting or jumping, and this tape is just what I have been looking for. I will certainly purchase more of Leslie’s tapes in the future.

Customer Review: Good program, with limitations
I am coming up on two years of using this program, and it works well. It has been a key tool in losing 40 pounds in two years. The activities section is quite detailed. There is a large database of food items, however they tend to be rather inaccurate. I have gotten around this by adding custom items, which is easy to do, especially for one person. For all the functionality there are some limitations that warrant a couple points off, in my opinion. These include: - FitDay assumes that you add margarine and salt to everything. This includes vegetables. A work around is to use raw instead of cooked, or enter every little thing as a custom. If you are tracking sodium this is a must. - Even without added salt, Fitday sodium values tend to be much higher than normal items. - The custom database is not accessible by anyone else in the house, on the same computer. That means you have to enter every custom food on each family member’s account. Considering most things we eat are custom items, this is a good chunk of needless work. - The program now costs $10 more than I paid for it a couple years ago, yet the current version is 1.0. There have been no updates in over two years, and I understand its about 3 years on the first version now. Greedy? - The reports are great, yet there is no way to export the data, or even print it, to take to a doctor or nutritionist. - There is no entry for trans fats. - There are few brand name items, and because there are no updates most of the branded entries are obsolete. - The search function seems to be based on the last word entered, only. - The listing of search items is weird. For example, search on Chicken, and the first item listed is chicken feet (then Chicken Kiev, then skin). Chicken breast is 14th on the list. There are plenty of other minor things to squawk about, but the bottom line is that the program works really well if you stick to it, and add custom entries weekly. I’d recommend using the free on-line version for a while first to make sure you can stick with it. The on-line version also has the advantage that you can access it from any computer.
Customer Review: Helpful and Comprehensive
I have used Fitday’s software for a year now, and I find it very useful for a variety of reasons. Basically, Fitday allows you to store, track, and analyze a huge number of different factors related to nutrition and exercise. This includes food, activity, mood, weight, and measurements. Specifically, the program has a large number of foods in its database (taken from USDA databases), and allows you to enter your own custom foods either by entering new foods, or modifying entries already in their database. Once you enter your food, you can keep track of your calories, fat, carbohydrates, protein, and a whole host of vitamins and minerals. If you want, you can pull up a graph showing you which foods provided you with different nutrients in a day, or another graph that tells you which friend you ate with when you consumed most of your calories (or fat, carb, etc). There are a huge number of exercises in the database too, which cover just about every activity you might do (including odd ones like shoe repair, digging for worms, and conducting music). You can also enter custom exercises. The program allows you to record your daily mood, i.e. how you felt that particular day. You can also set your weight, height, and other metabolism information (for example, how active you are at work), and the program estimates the calories you burn in a day just from existing. Once you enter your weight, you can set a weight goal, which includes the date you need to lose the weight by. Then, the software tells you how much weight you need to lose per week, and as you lose weight, you can update the software, and it generates a handy line graph showing your progress. If you don’t think weight is an accurate measurement of progress, you can enter your neck, bicep, forearm, chest, waist, hip, thigh, and calf measurements, and track all of them. You can find some basic reports on the overview tab, including a comparison of calories burned versus consumed for a given time period (you set that). If you want more detailed reports about food or activity, they too are available. However, there are a few drawbacks to the software. First, no weight loss software is going to come with every food in its database. This means that if you want an accurate estimate of daily nutrients and calories, you will (at least initially) be entering a lot of custom foods. While the software is easy to navigate, entering a bunch of custom foods can become tedious, and those who are not too excited about their diet may find it too much work. Second, while the software permits multiple users, I haven’t found a way to transfer custom foods from one user to another, which means that people in the same household eating the same custom foods will have to enter them in twice. Third, the software could easily track more nutrients than it does, since the USDA database it is based on contains many values Fitday omits: vitamin K, lutein, lycopene, caffeine, biotin, etc. While Fitday tracks a lot of nutrients, I still would like to see more. However, despite these minor drawbacks, I have given the program five stars because it really is very helpful. Overall, I recommend Fitday software for those who need to keep track of what they eat and what they do. It is the best way I have found to keep me on track, making me aware of hidden calories and periods of inactivity. Personally, I tend to eat less (and exercise more) when I use Fitday simply because I want to be able to see something positive on the screen at the end of the day. Those not concerned about weight loss, but who have other health issues, could benefit from this software too, since it tracks sodium, folic acid, saturated fat, and other nutrients. While no software is going to help an unmotivated person lose weight, Fitday provides those who are motivated with a powerful set of tools that will give them an edge…if they have enough commitment to use the software regularly.

Customer Review: Really feel the difference.
I ordered this product (30 oz size) from DAB Nutrition. They had the lowest total cost after shipping. I first tried Miracle Greens from a place called Grocery Outlet. They had a 10 ounce size for $19.95 without tax. I really like the ease of getting your fruits and vegetables in a small scoup. The taste is pretty good (for something thats supposed to be good for you…usually yuk yuk )and it mixes well with juice. I mix it with a JUICY JUICE 6.75 0z juice box.At less than 70 cents a serving, where else do you blow your money? This is well worth the cost. Unless you put a less than a 70 cents price tag on your health and well being?? I’m glad I found this on AMAZON at this great price. Search around on other sites and you’ll waste your time with price (after shipping). So if you don’t want to throw down 1/2 a dozen fruits and veggies (and deal with the spoilage keeping it in the kitchen),this is the product for you. It will give you a boost and balance in your health.PEACE & LOVE ~ Koji
Customer Review: Miracle Greens Prescribed by Holistic Doctor
Miracle Greens-Nutrient-Rich Super Food Supplement, 30oz Miracle Greens : One scoop a day equals 5 servings of healthy fruits and vegetables. Even though I love veggies, it’s difficult to get enough nourishment to equal the daily recomended amounts. I have tried several other products, most of which taste like garden soil (yuck!). But Miracle Greens is pleasant tasting and mixes well with fruit juice and health shakes. I am blessed to continue this product at a cost much lower than retail stores. So glad I found it on Amazon.com.

Philips Sonicare Elite e9500 Custom Care Power Toothbrush
The Sonicare Elite 9500 Custom Care Power Toothbrush is built for your individual oral care needs. Just like a smile, no two mouths are the same. That’s why the Sonicare Elite 9500 is designed with the new Custom Care System, offering two speeds and two brush head sizes for more individualized brushing. The Elite 9500 has patented sonic technology, high-speed bristle motion, and dynamic fluid cleaning action that gently and effectively reaches deep between teeth and below the gumline.

The Elite 9500 is built for your individual oral care needs.

31,000 bristle sweeps per minute removes harmful plaque.

Sonicare is the only Sonic toothbrush with a slim angled neck, contoured-fit bristles and ultra high speed bristle speed for greater plaque removal in hard to reach areas. Plus, Sonicare is the #1 personally used and recommended brand by U. S. dental professionals.

Building better health into every Sonicare.
The mouth is the gateway to your body. It is increasingly being identified as a vulnerable entry point for bacteria associated with serious medical conditions. Evidence also continues to emerge that shows a link between gum disease and a variety of systemic conditions, including diabetes, heart attack and stroke, and the occurrence of pre-term low birth weight babies. So it’s essential that when you think of total body health you include your mouth by focusing on gum disease prevention.

Philips Oral Healthcare is dedicated to developing innovations that result in superior oral health and, therefore, can help improve and maintain overall health.

About Sonicare’s Patented Technology and Custom Care System
Sonicare’s unique patented combination of high speed bristle motion with extra wide sweeping motion creates effective, yet gentle dynamic fluid cleaning action. So you get superior plaque removal, especially in hard-to-reach areas, deep between teeth and below the gumline. In fact, this technology generates 31,000 bristle sweeps per minute, and laboratory studies show that it removes harmful plaque bacteria up to four millimeters beyond the bristle tips — even below the gum-line. With the Sonicare 9500 in hand, you can count on naturally whiter teeth and healthier gums.

Sonicare — Use it for your mouth, use it for your body
Diabetes: Studies have shown that people with diabetes are more susceptible to oral infections and gum disease than those without diabetes. The Sonicare toothbrush is proven to reduce gingivitis, contributing to better oral health and, therefore, better overall health.

Pre-term low birth weight: When severe gum disease is present, some women are up to seven times more likely to deliver a pre-term low birth weight baby. And Sonicare toothbrushes are clinically proven to reduce gingivitis, so they can significantly improve oral health for better overall health.
