Customer Review: Very Soothing Voice and Music
I would have to disagree with Karen K who said the voice and music were irratating. I found the narrators’ voice to be extremely soothing and the music to be beneficial and relaxing. In fact, for all the hypnosis tapes I’ve ever used, this is by far the most relaxing. I’m able to go into an extremely deep trance and always come out with the suggestion at the end (that’s how I know I didn’t just fall asleep). I only gave it 4 stars so far, but will update it in a couple of weeks when I see how well it works. I’ve been using it twice a day for two days, today is the third, and haven’t seen any changes in my appetite or eating yet. It says to use it for 21 days. I don’t know if that means you’ll only see significant results after 21 days, or what, but I’ll keep this review updated to let you know if I’ve lost any weight. If not, then at least I have had some incredibly relaxing sessions while I’m listening to the tape.

Day Five: I found when I went to the market I chose only healthy foods and stayed away from the junk food without even thinking about it. I checked the fat content on all food even if it said “light” or “low fat.” When I saw chocolate and thought I’d like some it was immediately followed up with the thought that I didn’t want to buy it. The hardest part is getting out of the store without the junk in the cart. At home, I’ve noticed I have not wanted to eat between meals.

After having so much success with Trevor’s cd “Your Power Within” I had to try “Relax Your Way to Thin.” I’ve lost 17 pounds so far and it is fantastic! I’ve never wanted to say I’m on a “diet” and I didn’t really want to change my eating habits. But, after listening to the cd, my whole attitude about food and healty eating habits started changing. It made me realize that I wasn’t denying myself anything by eating healthier, I was actually giving myself more. The weight started coming off, I’m feeling great and I’m sleeping soundly. Customer Review: Tells it like it is about Big Pharma
You cannot imagine what bravery it took for this DVD to be made. One guest is a former detail man and the producer is former detail woman, now called drug reps. In a PBS documentary style, but with rapid movement between 6 guests, this is the story of overselling drugs, mis-educating physicians, and control of even academic medical research. Even if you are a jaded cynic like me, you will find out some new disgusting angle to the prescription drug business. Here is the place for me to recommend Deadly Medicine by Thomas J. Moore (1995) and any of his other books. And Let Them Eat Prozac by David Healy (2004). And The Trouble with Medical Journals by Richard Smith. And Calculated Risks by Gerd Gigerenzer (2002).

This is an excellent overview of how drug companies will stoop at nothing to show their products in a good light, even if their “cures” are worse than useless and exorbitantly expensive. Two former sales reps explain how the drug companies seduce doctors from the time they’re in med school with gifts, trips, etc. Yes, we all know this, but hearing it from people who engaged in these practices makes their methods seem even more odious and manipulative. I especially liked Dr. Hoffman from UCLA whose calm explanations of the business of medicine and modern drug company tactics were excellent and scathing. I wish this DVD was required by all medical schools.

Customer Review: Probably better for older boys
Santa brought this blaster this year and well, after long, arduous pleas for it, it is sitting in the toybox. Was even told “I wish I hadn’t asked for it.” I suppose if the child is at LEAST 7, more like 8 it would be better, but since it is SO heavy and cumbersome, it’s quite difficult for the boys to work it and use it for any length of time. The silly string it comes with as webs is gone in about 10-15 minutes and is incredibly over priced. The different web tubes are quite difficult to manuever and the boys had to be helped with changing the type of ammo they wanted to use. For as pricey as this guy is, there are other web blasters out there sold separately, that contain each one of these shooters individually and in twos. To be honest, they’d add up to more than this one bought separately, but it is worth it in my book. We have 2 of the other ones and the boys have much more fun using them because they’re lighter and easier to manuever. This was used by 6 and 7-year-olds and they much, much preferred the single web blasters over this one. Again, if they’re older, this would probably be more fun. But for little fingers and arms, you might want to consider the smaller blasters. Sorta recommend with caution to the age factor.

I bought several of these shakers. One for myself and several for friends. Everyone agrees, these are leak proof and do a good job of breaking up whey, creatine or whatever. Provided your not a moron and use too little liquid or don’t close it tightly enough. I read the previous review. Sealer ring? Don’t know what she’s talking about. There is no sealer ring. Seems like it would get in the “whey” of a good seal. Threads are large and snap top snaps tight. Little wagon wheel with tiny squares help break up powders. Little word of advice with any shaker. . . Pour liquid first then add powder. Swirl powder a few times to get a little wet, THEN, shake away. . .

Customer Review: It works but it’s a little persnickety…
I really can’t entirely complain about this item since it ultimately does what it’s supposed to do but with an item that has so few functions that need to work properly I was a little dissapointed that the tare/zero button seemed to be rather fickle. It takes about six or seven presses of the button for me to get it to actually zero out otherwise it generally skates above zero enough to throw off my readings. This probably won’t matter for most casual kitchen use but I use this to weigh out brewing ingredients and for the sake of consistancy in my homebrewing getting the correct weights is something that I value. In summary, it’s a decent scale and the price was right. Perhaps I’m a little spoiled since I work in a lab and have some really fantastic scales. This model should work for most people’s everday use but it isn’t the best solution for the hobbiest needing precise measurements.

I’ve been on alli for six days now. I’ve definitely lost weight without changing one iota of my normal lifestyle. I eat “real” food. I will never eat reduced fat margarine or skim milk. I don’t eat a lot, but when I do it’s meat, fish, pasta, and the like, and I’m a huge cheese/olive oil/cream-based sauce fan. I honestly think alli was made for somebody like me. No offense, but really what’s the point of taking a fat-blocker if you’re consuming only 45 grams of fat per day anyway? Good for you if you’re one of those people who are happy with the cardboard-like fat-free cheese and fat-free cooking spray, but that’s not me. As someone who does consume fat, I should tell you about the “treatment effects.” The only difference I’ve noticed is that I do need to go to the bathroom now when I first wake up in the morning (it used to be after coffee), and there is visible oil. The oil looks like the droplets you see when you open up a can of chicken stock. I totally feel fine though, and I have had no issues with leakage, “not being about to make it,” or gas. I haven’t been on a scale, but I am definitely thinner. I will keep you posted with weight loss results. By the way, I’m a 5′7″, 150-pound, size 6 female.

I adopted a rescued greyhound. For the first couple of months I had her I wondered why she had a bald tummy, a bald butt and stiff, wiry fur on the rest of her body -she didn’t feel like the other greyhounds I had met. When using gram measurements I could lift an item off the scale and put it back down and come up with a different weight. Using the tare function often gave me a weight off by a gram or two.

If you are measuring yeast for example, the difference between 2 or 3 grams is a lot, percentage wise and baking wise.

While this video may be titled Aromatherapy, it’s as much about self-massage as it is about treating yourself with essential oils. Valerie Ann Worwood is an excellent guide to the benefits of aromatherapy–using scents to soothe and heal–for the whole family, and the sections on how to give yourself a massage are alone worth the price of this tape.

Worwood begins with the mixing of oils. The video sleeve contains a guide to which oils work for specific desired results (for instance, lemon oil is good for the body and soul, for use as a sedative, and for increasing concentration), and she mixes a few concoctions to illustrate. She then moves on to first aid, healing cuts and burns, stimulating aching feet, and helping a young child fall asleep. Next is aromatherapy in beauty regimes. The face massage is soothing, and she claims it will help release tension, increase circulation, improve texture, and revitalize the face. Scents in baths and showers follow, and then the section on stress, tension, and self-massage. The self-massage is demonstrated slowly enough that it’s easy to follow. Who needs a masseuse? With Worwood as a guide, you can calm the aching muscles of your shoulders, neck, arm, breasts, hip, back, and bottom all by your lonesome (note: there is a bit of nudity in the demonstration). She finishes the video with environmental perfuming–scenting your living space. Warning: after viewing this video you may go overboard on purchasing the oils. Customer Review: A great DVD to share with others.
Having purchased this DVD for my own enlightenment, I found it was something worth sharing with my sisters and friends, all of whom, like myself, have difficulty finding time for relaxation. So, this DVD will be their Christmas gift along with my own massage oil blends - both for face and body, and I am anxious to know what they think. In my opinion, this DVD conveys a sense of caring - through teaching one to take time for self in addition to the wonderful benefits of using essential oils in your home and everyday life. I am not an aromatherapist, nor a massage therapist, however I have been using essential oils to make my own bath and beauty products for some years and recently have begun doing face and self massage. This DVD was very helpful with the techniques of self massage. I do recommend that anyone interested is using essential oils first educate themselves as to which oils are right for them. Ms. Worwood’s DVD ranks at the top of my list of beneficial information on aromatherapy and massage therapy (which go hand in hand) and should be enjoyed by anyone with interest in these topics.

I have used this product for years and it is the only glucosamine product currently on the market that is safe to use for extended periods of time. And has the FDA seal of approval. My dog thinks of them as treats and gobbles them right down so for anyone else if giving your dog a pill is a problem these should go right down! I am not a big fan of fruit roll-ups as they tend to be more like candy than fruit with added sugar. These Twisted Fruit ropes are a “whole” other story. It’s SO GOOD that I enjoy it as much as my children do ! So far, I have had the pleasure of trying the strawberry, sour apple, and tropical fruit twists. A scoop of this on an empty stomach, or two scoops on a full stomach gives me an explosive workout pump! Read through the ingredients and you’ll find that most of the ingredients match up with what you’ll find in many of the more potent energy drinks (like Redline) you can find at your local convenience store. Ounce per fluid ounce, going this route is probably cheaper than shelling out the bucks for energy drinks at the store. I noticed an immediate improvement in gains in strength and size when I started using this (your mileage may vary). If you’ve hit a plateau in your weightlifting/bodybuilding gains I suggest giving this a try. Positives aside though, I’m sure using this stuff every day is rough on your liver and/or kidneys (as suggested in other reviews) so I try to limit using it to only a couple of times a week.

Customer Review: Very Soothing Voice and Music
I would have to disagree with Karen K who said the voice and music were irratating. I found the narrators’ voice to be extremely soothing and the music to be beneficial and relaxing. In fact, for all the hypnosis tapes I’ve ever used, this is by far the most relaxing. I’m able to go into an extremely deep trance and always come out with the suggestion at the end (that’s how I know I didn’t just fall asleep). I only gave it 4 stars so far, but will update it in a couple of weeks when I see how well it works. I’ve been using it twice a day for two days, today is the third, and haven’t seen any changes in my appetite or eating yet. It says to use it for 21 days. I don’t know if that means you’ll only see significant results after 21 days, or what, but I’ll keep this review updated to let you know if I’ve lost any weight. If not, then at least I have had some incredibly relaxing sessions while I’m listening to the tape. Day Five: I found when I went to the market I chose only healthy foods and stayed away from the junk food without even thinking about it. I checked the fat content on all food even if it said “light” or “low fat.” When I saw chocolate and thought I’d like some it was immediately followed up with the thought that I didn’t want to buy it. The hardest part is getting out of the store without the junk in the cart. At home, I’ve noticed I have not wanted to eat between meals.

After having so much success with Trevor’s cd “Your Power Within” I had to try “Relax Your Way to Thin.” I’ve lost 17 pounds so far and it is fantastic! I’ve never wanted to say I’m on a “diet” and I didn’t really want to change my eating habits. But, after listening to the cd, my whole attitude about food and healty eating habits started changing. It made me realize that I wasn’t denying myself anything by eating healthier, I was actually giving myself more. The weight started coming off, I’m feeling great and I’m sleeping soundly. Awesome CD, I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to loose weight.

This set is junk! I am so disappointed! I really wanted my two year old to be able to play with this for a long time to come. The material is so flimsy that I doubt it will last much longer than a month or two. We will probably be returning it. They really need to make these tents more durable. I like to put 2 Tbsp chocolate and 2 Tbsp of berry pomegranate with 1-2 Tbsp extra virgin coconut oil, 1/2 a banana and unsweetened almond milk. YUMMY! Nutritionists often change their minds, as new evidence comes in. Thus, per Pollan, we should stop paying attention to them. Doctors and nuclear scientists also sometimes change their minds - should we also disdain their thoughts?

It’s true that Americans’ health has deteriorated in some ways over recent decades - eg. the alarming growth of obesity. Pollan suggests this also damns nutritionists. Forget about eating TOO MUCH - eg. the larger portions and enticements for super-sizing, reduced physical exertion in our daily lives, and ignoring the universal advice of nutritionists (avoid animal fats, eat a balanced meal, etc.). Pollan also wants to associate (blame?) increasing heart disease on nutritionists - but what about the fact that it is decreasing?

“In Defense of Food” cannot be defended - too much hair-splitting and absurd logic. I cannot be convinced that nutritionists and the marketers that use them do not/can not improve food - eg. niacin added to bread, iodine in salt, etc. We simply don’t know enough to do so as well as in animals because the required scientific testing is often not possible or frowned upon.

I’m a working woman - I have four jobs and they take up all my time. I am also overweight and in recovery from so much abuse - my whole life has been abuse. So I try to treat my body right and do what the good Lord intended me to do with it - after so many years of abuse and trrible behavior it shows. So i like to read books about food and such. Maybe I am ignorant - it wouldnt be the first time some big shot man has made me feel that but this book was hard to read. The whole first part just talks about all these historical facts about food. I wanted to know what i shoudl and shouldn;t eat - and he does say that later on but I was so confused and lost by the time I was done that i don’t think I got much out of it. My sponser Pam said I needed to have patience and read it again - but she doesn;t work four jobs to try and stay off welfare and food stamps - and I am pretty sure most of what he tells you to eat instead in here I can;t get on food stamps. So i gave Pam her book back and said I woudl rather hear about it on Oprah. If you went to Harvard maybe this is for you, but I work all the time and try to behave righteously and am not a liberal so this wasn’t for me.

I do like this trash can, EXCEPT for the poorly fitted door to the battery holder. If I move the trash can, or if someone accidentally bumps it, the door becomes dislodged, and the batteries shift, losing their contact points. As a result, the can is no longer a “touchless” one. There is no damage to the door–it’s just a defect in the engineering and production. There’s no way to exchange it, as the postage to return it would cost too much. I’ve resorted to taping not only the door, but also the batteries. It is an annoying workaround. For this reason, I cannot recommend paying the price for this can unless you buy it locally and return it if yours, too, is defective.

I first heard about David Zinczenko’s book on ‘Ellen.’ His presentation on deceitful meals intrigued me to buy his book. I was truly SHOCKED to discover that many of the foods I ate that I thought were good for me, such as a turkey burger, where actually unhealthy! The presentation of the material in his book is very user-friendly. It doesn’t have a scolding tone and it’s not based on fads like diet books. I bring ‘Eat This, Not That’ everywhere I go. This movie was a real eye opener to me and I was completely riveted to this documentary’s content. I am amazed at the amount of gmo’s in today’s world and how corporations like Monsanto are running the show when it comes to what shows up on the dinner table! According this documentary, there is no requirement for food to have labeling stating whether it has been genetically engineered. So, we may not even know if we are eating genetically engineered! It gave me a whole new outlook on what I put on the kitchen table!! Buying fresh produce from local organic farmers/growers seems to be the way to go after watching this film!

I’ve been using Alli now since the middle of November, and I’ve lost 12 pounds, on schedule with the promised 1-2 pounds of safe weight loss per week. They have a very robust online support site for people who purchase the pills and it provides useful tracking of weight loss and encouragement in more ways than I can use. The treatment effects that you read about are what keeps people honest with Alli and essentially make it work — if you eat too much fat at one sitting, you’ll be visiting the bathroom quite frequently. You learn quick. I made it through the holidays with continued weight loss, which I view as an amazing feat. Customer Review: The best snap-seal product
As other reviewers have noted, these containers are excellent - they make an airtight (and watertight) seal, and go in the dishwasher with no hassles (I dig the gasket out with a butterknife to wash it, but it’s not really necessary). There are lots of similar snap-containers out there. These win on two points - First, they nest to stack. Second, they’re made in the USA. And that second point is certainly worth a few extra cents per container.

My first ever endorsment. My set of Snapwear arrived a few days ago. I really appreciate how fast I can put the lid on. It takes forever to get the lid on other sealable containers. This literally just “snaps” on in seconds. In two days we have had two family members request Snapwear for Christmas. I also appreciate the way it stacks in the fridge. Being rectangle in shape it makes the most of limited space. Storage is a breeze, I have it stored in one drawer, containers nested in each other, tops to the side in order of size. This is the only 12-cup thermal carafe coffee maker I’ve been able to find, and it’s at a decent price. So what’s the problem? The machine is supremely finicky about: 1) placement of the filter holder in the basket; 2) closing the swinging basket against the main unit; and 3) placement of the carafe beneath the basket. It’s surprisingly easy to get any of those three just slightly wrong, and easy to miss that they aren’t quite square. And the result if ANY of the three “moving parts” is even minutely “off” is coffee all over your counter and floor. We’ve owned the machine for seven or eight months, and manage to wash the floor with Starbucks at least once a month - and we’re forewarned and pretty careful! Too bad - it makes good coffee but who wants to slurp it off the tile?

Customer Review: a totally comprehensive and fantastic course in African dance
This was a course, not a workout. Wyoma provides fundamentals, explains the creative narrative behind each MOVE (!!!!) and describes differences between dances. She also has an improv section. I am currently studying W. African dance and Afro-Brasilian, and find THIS DVD to be an inivaluable addition to my studies. This is for folks, however, who want more than a cursory routine or overview of African dance. This is the real deal. The outdoor setting is superlative.

For someone who isn’t a stranger to African dancing I found the instruction catered more to the intermediate or advanced dancer. At times some of the steps could have been broken down more for the dances. I felt that Wyoma and her dancers were more into giving a show then teaching African dance steps. Customer Review: Nice little bottle
Handy little bottles, but I dislike the scare tactics used by some fans against Nalgene and other plastic bottle makers. Minor leaching of bisphenol A (which some studies indicate may be harmfull) occurs only in Lexan bottles (marked with a 7 on the bottom.) Bottles with other numbers, such as 2 or 4 on the bottom, indicating other types of plasic, are safe. Also, most leaching of disphenol A occurs in very old Lexan bottles, so don’t keep them for too many years. These bottles seem safe as far as I can tell, but I would throrougly wash them before using.
Customer Review: Loop Cap Version-Environmentally responsible, convenient, and better for your health!
Just thinking about all those plastic water bottles and where they must end up is depressing! Why not do what small step I can to not add to the problem? At first I used a Nalgene reusable water bottle, but the the grooves in the cap and the lip would develop this gross bacterials or mildew growth that I could never completely get out. Then after reading about the poisonous chemicals that leach into water from plastic, I was convinced I needed to find a different solution for ensuring I get my 8 glasses of water a day in the healthiest and most environmentally responsible way possible. Stainless steel is less processed, more durable, has no leaching of chemicals, and more environmentally friendly. I’ve never had a leakage or rust problem. The only minor issues are that it doesn’t hold as much water as the standard 2 liter Nalgene, and if you fill it with warm or hot water the metal becomes too hot to touch. So it’s best for cold water. Also because the mouth is wider, you can’t be too eager drinking if you get really thirsty otherwise you’ll spill all over yourself!
